Your new favorite coffee replacement! Coffee is one of those things that either gives me the caffeine jitters or has me on the verge of an anxiety attack. Not fun! I enjoy the flavor but my body simply does not do well when consuming it. I’ve found more people straying away from coffee recently & this is the perfect alternative. A drink you can actually start your morning with that won’t spike your cortisol levels, wreck your hormones or drain your adrenals. Instead it’ll actually support your detox pathways, nourish your adrenals, support your liver, digestive, immune & nervous systems.

Did you know most skin issues start with the liver? And you know what happens when we support our liver & detox pathways? Better skin, hair & nails! I found that drinking this not only throughout my second pregnancy but during my postpartum period helped with avoiding postpartum hair loss. Which was huge for me being that I lost so much in my first pregnancy!

If you’re someone who has auto-immune conditions related to thyroid issues, rheumatoid arthritis, GERD or leaky gut this could be a supportive alternative for you. Especially being that caffeine should be limited.

For those of you that are skeptical to make the switch you can always start by mixing your coffee with the herbal coffee & slowly but surely decrease it. I have a feeling you’ll be craving this. Especially after you experience how it makes you feel!

Organic Herbs *Caffeine Free* Servings: 17-20 per bag. You can also re-steep for a second batch!

Roasted Dandelion Root- One of my favorite liver tonics. Supporting the liver, kidneys, pancreas & digestion. Dandelion may help to stabilize blood sugar levels & reduce excess hormones. It also has prebiotic fibers that can improve digestion & mineral absorption.

Roasted Chicory Root- The smell of roasted chicory smells almost identical to coffee. It contains inulin which is a type of dietary fiber that acts as a prebiotic promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria & helps with constipation. It’s also high in antioxidants & cleanses our liver. Studies have also shown it to regulate blood sugar levels.

Burdock Root- One of the best herbs for skin imbalances. Helps break up congestion in the body & helps with bile issues by supporting the liver. Often recommended whenever there is lymph stagnation & known to be a good blood purifying herb.

Reishi Mushroom- Known as the “mushroom of immortality” this fungi & its medicinal properties have been called upon for over 4,000 years. Calming the mind & spirit by strengthening the parasympathetic nervous system & adrenal cortex. It’s a great adaptogenic ally to start your day off with. Due to the polysaccharides, Reishi works on improving the immune system & supporting the liver. Helping the body to fight off infections & dis-ease. Being that it is an immunomodulating herb, it’s a good fit for those that may have autoimmune issues.

Roasted Carob- High in fiber, vitamins & minerals. It contains polyphenols which may help reduce the risk of heart disease. It may help prevent spikes in blood sugar & help with digestive issues.

Cinnamon- Not only does cinnamon add a nice flavor but it can help with sluggish digestion & stabilizing blood sugar levels. It has been shown to have an insulin type effect in the blood to help stabilize sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It can also improve circulation in the body.

Fennel- Supports the digestive system relieving any bloating. The seeds also tone the liver & kidneys. If you’re breastfeeding it can promote milk flow & help with a colic baby.

Eleuthero Root- The herb that is responsible for the term “adaptogen” it is known for reducing stress & enhancing quality of life. It has been scientifically proven to increase endurance & reduce fatigue. Known to boost cognitive function & act as a neuro-protective. Has a balancing & modulating effect on the immune system. The perfect herbs for workaholics who tend too over do it & run themselves into the ground. Supporting adrenal fatigue & exhaustion.

Directions: Add a heaping tbs of herb to 8oz of hot water. Best when brewed for 15-20minutes. Or longer if you desire. Add sweetener & milk of choice.

How I make my ice coffee: I like to use my french press which holds 4 cups of water. That way I also have some pre-brewed for later in the day or for the next morning. I add 4tbs of herb to my french press & pour in boiling water. Letting it sit for a good 30mins while I get ready for the day. Once it’s been brewing I pour a cup worth in my blender along with some maple syrup or brown sugar, colostrum, bovine collagen peptides, a raw egg yolk & a bit of whatever creamer or milk I have on hand. Blend & pour over ice. DELICIOUS! Modify as you wish. I keep the remaining tea in my french press & put it in the fridge to keep brewing throughout the day or for the next morning.

How I make my hot coffee: Follow same method above & brew in french press. I like to add a tbs of brown sugar or maple syrup into my cup. Pour in coffee leaving some room. I like to froth either some heavy whipping cream with vanilla extract or whatever creamer I have & then pour into my coffee. Enjoy!
